There are a number of ways in which business can promote themselves such as:
1) Domain names: E-businesses benefit from memorable website adresses; many large businesses have their own company domain name websites such as Sainsubury's.co.uk. ASOS have a memorable domain name as they are short for As Seen On Screen. therefore they have been more creative with their domain name as its short and easy to remember.
2) Search engines: Other ways for a customer to find a website address is through search engines such as Google. these gather the domain names within different websites or posts and gather them together in order for you to find the right one.
Here are a few search engines.
3) Price comparison sites: These are websites such as Kelkoo which use promotional tools for businesses as long as they offer a competitive price. This provides a competitive advantage to websites such as ASOS, as well as methods of promotions.
Above is a print screen of the price comparison site Kelkoo.
4) Marketplaces: These are websites such as Amazon or Ebay where they submit stock list and prices and allow customers to search and buy products directly from the website rather than being re directed to the original company's website, which a charge is normally asked for. Therefore this is more convenient as it's great for small to large businesses to reach a target market and gain consumer trust. however, there is a sales commission to pay but for many businesses this is cost effective.

5) Banners, spotlights, pop up's and sponsored links: These are various ways of promoting a business website on other websites, they are online advertisements which when clicked on will send the user to another website window where the product is being sold. These can be animated or incentive. Payment of these types of promotions are normally by the number of page impressions or click through. Businesses such as google gain much of their revenue through this method.

6) Viral Marketing: These are the spreading of marketing messages by sending e mails to existing customers or target groups, which are then forwarded by some of those users to their friends and family and so on. Once these marketing messages have been sent it is an effective campaign and can spread very rapidly at low costs.
